Lucy Agostini, Esq. is one of the most experienced family lawyers in Northern New Jersey, having practiced in the field for 40 years.
After completing a judicial clerkship with the Honorable June Strelecki (Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Part, Essex County), Mrs. Agostini embarked on a career focusing on family law related matters. In 1987, she opened her own practice in Nutley, New Jersey, and later partnered with Jill S. Slattery, Esq. to form Agostini & Slattery, a law partnership located in Verona.
Mrs. Agostini was listed as one of New Jersey's Top Legal Minds in Inside Jersey Magazine in 2012. Since 2013, Inside Jersey has recognized her as one of New Jersey's Top Rated Lawyers. She was the recipient of the 2006 Essex County Family Law Achievement Award. Additionally, for the past 19 years, Mrs. Agostini has had a 5.0 out of 5.0 AV rating from Martindale Hubbell – a peer evaluation based on demonstrated ethics and competence in the practice of law.
Mrs. Agostini has handled more than 300 contested divorces, as well as a similar number of post-judgment divorce motions. She is also a court-approved family law economic mediator who uses her litigation and negotiation skills to help parties resolve their differences in a non-adversarial setting. While her primary focus remains on family law, she continues to regularly represent clients in residential real estate closings, will preparation, and general practice matters.
Mrs. Agostini has served as Chair of the District VC Fee Arbitration Committee for Essex County, Co-Chair of the Essex County Family Law Section Bench / Bar Committee, and Co-Vice Chair of the Essex County Family Law Executive Committee. Currently, she is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association-Family Law Section, the Essex County Bar Association-Family Law Section, the Essex County Family Law Executive Committee, and the office of Attorney Ethics of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, District VB (Essex County - Suburban Essex) Ethics Committee . She has been featured as a lecturer for the National Business Institute, the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the Essex County Bar Association. She has been a regular panelist for the Essex County Matrimonial Early Settlement Program for over 20 years.
Mrs. Agostini was licensed to practice law in New Jersey and the U.S. District Court (District of New Jersey) in 1978. She is a graduate of New York Law School (J.D. 1978) and the University of Bridgeport (B.A. 1972).
